A bit about my academics:

At the Master's Student Conference, I presented my analysis on the transformative nature of  comedy and its natural relationship to the tragic genre through a close examination of William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" and its contemporary reception.

During the course of my Master's Degree, I focused heavily on analyzing the relationship that literature, with a specific interest in theatrical texts, has to its historical and cultural moment. I am fascinated by how cultural specificities and changing societal expectations can be analyzed through a closer examination of literature, its translations, and adaptations.

This interest culminated in a Master's Thesis entitled "Comedy As A Temporal Art" where I utilized Shakespearean comedies and various adaptations to explain the societally corrective nature of the comedic genre and how this creates a temporal piece of   literature inherently linked to the cultural moment of its creation.

B.F.A. in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism | DePaul University

While completing my B.F.A. in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, I was able to hone my skills as a practicing dramaturg while also learn the critical analysis and research methodology that would be essential in furthering my career in academia.

It was through my experience working as a dramaturg during this conservatory program that I learned how to work with playwrights, directors, actors, and audience members to further analyze the societal implications of the productions that we created and to examine the cultural impact that theatre has as a whole on society.

The skills that I learned at DePaul University through studying Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism are not exclusively applicable to the theatre world, however. I have found that the analytical mindset and critical thinking skills that I learned through studying with award-winning playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs became essential building blocks for the work that I completed in my Master's degree and beyond.
